Scanning Sidewalk Safety in Moreno Valley with the SST!

‍♀️ Reporting from Moreno Valley, California, our team is in action using our Sidewalk Surface Tester (SST) to conduct comprehensive sidewalk condition assessments in this vibrant part of the Greater Los Angeles area. They are collecting crucial data to support ADA compliance and enhance the safety and accessibility of pedestrian walkways by gathering video, imagery, and GIS information to create a detailed overview of the agency’s sidewalk network.

Moreno Valley is committed to maintaining sustainable infrastructure. The information gathered by the SST helps to create a Sidewalk Condition Index (SWCI), facilitating effective multi-year budgeting and proactive management planning of sidewalk assets. The SST, equipped with a Ladybug 5+ spherical camera, navigates the city’s diverse terrains to gather detailed, real-time data.

Did you know? Moreno was named in 1882 after one of the founders of the community Frank E. Brown, who officially declined to have the town named after him; however, the town still wanted to honor him and it was decided to name the town Moreno, which is Spanish for brown.

We are proud to contribute to the community’s safety and accessibility, ensuring all residents can navigate the urban landscape smoothly and effectively!
