Team Member Spotlight: Lara Albertson

We’re proud to have team members who bring more than just technical expertise—they bring perspective, curiosity, and a genuine desire to make a difference. Lara is one of those people.

With a background outside the traditional transportation and infrastructure world, Lara brings a fresh set of eyes and a thoughtful, people-first mindset to everything she does. That mindset, along with a commitment to showing up, staying organized, and digging into problems from all angles, is what makes us so excited to have Lara be a part of the ICC-IMS team.

Perspective Makes the Difference

Coming from outside the industry, Lara knows that some of her questions may seem unconventional, but that’s exactly the point. “Once I understand something, I can often offer a fresh perspective. That’s what makes my role here unique.”

Over the past couple of years, she’s seen her role evolve in step with the company. As ICC-IMS has grown, so has the opportunity to lean into her skill set. “It’s exciting to contribute in ways that matter and feel aligned with the direction we’re heading.”

A Love for Music (and Cornhuskers)

Originally from Nebraska, Lara is a die-hard Cornhuskers fan. “It’s been tough, but hopefully this is the year, right?” she jokes. When she’s not watching college football, you might find her at a concert. “There are only two types of music: country and western,” she laughs. Right now, she’s got Chris Stapleton at the top of her playlist.

“You Make your Own Luck.”
Lara credits one of the most important lessons in her career to something she learned from her father: “You make your own luck.” Behind every ‘lucky’ success story is hard work, persistence, and preparation, something she sees firsthand in the ICC-IMS team. “Luck favors the prepared,” she adds.

Listening to Understand

When asked what she thinks is the most important skill a successful professional should have, Lara doesn’t hesitate: “Listening to understand,” she says. “Most people, if they’re listening at all, are listening to respond. But often, the biggest clues are in what’s not said.” That perspective is something she brings to every challenge she tackles, especially in a fast-moving, highly technical field like infrastructure management.

How She Works

Lara is a strategic problem-solver who takes the time to see all sides, often more than two. She approaches problems by asking, “What doesn’t make sense?” and that’s usually where she uncovers the root issue. Her secret weapon for staying productive? “My calendar. Once it’s scheduled, you can count on me being there—whether it’s for work or life.”

And for the Record…

Her favorite food? “Steak,” she says without hesitation. “My grandfather was a cattle rancher. We always had fresh beef.”

If she could have one superpower…

“Teleportation,” Lara says. “I’d love to instantly be wherever I want, have dinner with my folks, or show up for the everyday moments with friends instead of just the big ones.”

We’re glad Lara has teleported into the ICC-IMS team. Her curiosity, perspective, and genuine connection to others make her an incredible part of our crew.
