Meet Mollie!

Mollie Rhett is our fearless, pun-y, and perpetually sarcastic Director of Marketing. She’s an athlete, a mom, a wife, a storyteller, and a lover of all things 90s.

Let’s get to know her better!

What inspired you to join the ICC/IMS team?

I have spent most of my career in the A/E/C industry working for big, worldwide firms with thousands and thousands of employees. Joining the ICC/IMS team, which is much smaller, initially gave me a little anxiety. Ultimately, though, I realized that I could affect a lot of change and really shape the direction of some amazing product and service offerings by joining the ICC/IMS team. My role here has been challenging, fulfilling, and incredibly rewarding thus far!

What have been some of the most important lessons you’ve learned throughout your career?

Listen first, act later. The older I get and the more settled I am in my career and life, the less I “react”. Before I formulate an opinion or react to something, I am very intentional about information gathering. I ask lots of questions and play devil’s advocate often. I try to look at things from every possible angle and point of view. Analyzing issues or situations in this way has really helped me to avoid surprises further down the line. Something else that I am a stickler about is doing my best to be transparent and not mince my words. I value people’s time and don’t want to waste it by bullshitting anyone.

What type of music do you like? Do you have a favorite artist or band?

I am a huge fan of 90s alternative music. I love Red Hot Chili Peppers, Nirvana, Pearl Jam, Foo Fighters, Jimmy Eats World, Alice in Chains, Green Day, Rage Against the Machine, Stone Temple Pilots, Beastie Boys, Smashing Pumpkins, etc.

Don’t tell anyone, but I also really love Taylor Swift. ; )

Do you play any sports? Are you a runner? A yogi? Do tell!

Physical activity is important to me, and I stay super active. Right now, I lift weights 4x a week, do Bikram yoga 2x a week, and run about 20 miles a week. I’m also a CrossFit coach and love the intensity of that sport.

What do you think makes you unique as an ICC/IMS team member?

I think I’m unique in that I truly care about the people I’m working with and the clients we are helping with our solutions. I like to get to know people and hear their stories. I’m also approachable and think I have a fun sense of humor. I like to insert humor into most situations, and I think it helps people relax and “be real” with me.

Where do you think you can have the biggest impact in your role?

What I do will impact things for sure, but I feel there is power in numbers. The biggest impact will come from my team as a whole. Empowering them, motivating them, and making sure people are well-suited to the work they are doing is the play. Having a team I can rely on frees me up to tackle the work that I need to execute on.

How do you like to structure your day?

I always start my morning with a cold brew from Starbucks. (One of my biggest vices.) I typically lift first thing, and then I’ll try to write or produce content after, while my creative juices are flowing most freely. I do block focus time for myself so I can minimize distractions while I’m designing or writing. I’ll usually break for a run at lunch, then eat at my desk while I get ready for the afternoon. I try to schedule most of my meetings in the afternoon. At the end of the day, I’ll try to fit some yoga in if I can. Because I work from home, it is really easy to have work bleed over into my personal time, so I try my best to have a definitive “quitting” time. Some days I do better than others! I am very intentional about prioritizing family time, though, which is super important in a household with 3 kids and parents who both work.

Do you have any strategies for dealing with stress at work?

If you care about what you do, there is always going to be stress at work. The only thing that I’ve found that works for me is regular exercise. For me, a reduction in stress and a boost in productivity is always just a workout away!

What is your favorite food?

I love all food and don’t discriminate. If I had to pick favorites, though, I’m a big fan of Indian and Thai food. I lika-the-spice!

How would you describe yourself in three words?

Creative, nerdy, nuanced.
