What do you love most about your job?
The support and flexibility. As a mom, work/life balance is extremely important to me and I fully believe that I have found it at ICC-IMS. I don’t want to miss a thing with my family (unless it’s a PTA meeting) and the ability to work remotely lets me achieve that. Since I can take care of life outside of work when needed, work gets my full attention and productivity.
What do you think sets you apart in your field?
I bring with me a very unique set of skills and experience. I worked in radio for 15 years on air and closely with record labels partners. I parlayed that experience into advertising and sales. I’m also certified in Grant Writing for nonprofits, I have my Florida Real Estate License, and I am certified in Social Media Marketing.
What type of music do you like? Do you have a favorite artist or band?
I love so many different types of music. Nothing in the world is better than live music. Best concert? Taylor Swift “The Eras Tour” (duh). Band I’ve seen the most: Taking Back Sunday. My first concert: ‘N Sync!
Do you play any sports? Are you a runner? A yogi? Do tell.
Even though I am a native Floridian, I grew up competitively figure skating. We had a rink in the middle of our mall in Clearwater, FL. I tried it when I was 3 years old and immediately fell in love. I competed all over the country, broke many bones, and made life-long friends. Which reminds me, I need to get my blades sharpened.
What do you think is the most important skill that you bring to the table?
My sales experience has given me an acute awareness of what the CSMs deal with day-to-day and how best to support the whole Client Services team. While I was working in sales, I found that I enjoyed everything about it except for the pressure of actually closing the deal. Getting to know the client’s needs and pain points, building the relationships, putting together presentations, following up, managing the account after the sale, that’s my jam. If I can help with any of that – then that’s more time that CSMs have to close deals.
What is the most important lesson that you’ve learned from working with the ICC/IMS team?
It takes all of us. From engineers to marketing, we all have important roles in the success of the business.
How do you like to structure your day?
Time block, time block, time block! Since taking on Marketing responsibilities, I have found that it’s helpful to block the first part of my day for those tasks. Marketing is less likely to have urgent needs, so that leaves the second half of my day open for anything on the Client Services side that may need immediate attention. I use trackers to stay on top of all daily, weekly, and ad hoc tasks.
Do you have any strategies for dealing with stress at work?
Step away. Take a 5 and get up from your desk. Stress causes your body to go into fight-or-flight. Your body thinks you are being chased by a bear, not just dealing with a stressful email. Go outside and take the dogs for a quick walk. Come back clear-headed.
If you could visit any place in the world, where would it be?
I have so many places I want to go. Scotland, Amalfi Coast in Italy, Hawaii. I have some serious travel catching-up to do!
What quality do you like most about yourself?
My ability to make friends. My doctor? She’s my friend now. My daughter’s Kindergarten teacher? Friend. The group of women that also dropped their kids off at daycare when my daughter was a baby? They’re now my BEST friends. My sister-in-law? I stole her from my brother. She’s my bestie now.
