Baby, it’s cold outside. Still have to hit the road?

Here are some tips to keep you safe on the icy roads this Winter:

– Check the tread on your tires to be sure they can handle the frosty conditions. Consider purchasing winter tires in extra chilly areas. Other important steps are filling up your washer fluid and checking to ensure your defroster is in working order.

& – Drive slower than usual if roads may be slippery. Even if the road looks clear, use caution. Leaving extra space between vehicles and avoiding sudden movements are also good habits to create.

’ – Your anti-lock brakes (ABS) will do that for you.

– We’ve all seen the signs. Bridges and overpasses freeze faster than other parts of the road because they’re exposed to cold air from all sides. Slow down when traveling over them.

– Heading into deep snow or a mountainous area? Snow chains will give you better traction.

– Be sure to include blankets, water, snacks, flashlight, first aid supplies, sand or salt for traction, and jumper cables.

– Get up to date weather information and road conditions before heading out. Pull over if you’re unsure if it’s safe to continue on.

Following these tips can minimize the risks associated with driving in winter conditions. Be safe out there! ❄️
